Privacy policy

This policy covers the Ace revision apps (currently Ace Computer Science GCSE) and this website. They are published by Education Alive, a trading name of VirtualXone LLC, based in Milton Keynes, UK ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the information described here.
Who can use the apps
The apps are for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you think a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
What we collect

We do not ask for your name, school, location, or photos, and we do not sell your personal information.
Signed out
If you do not create an account, your progress stays on your phone. We do not receive your scores.
Adverts
The apps are free and show adverts through Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising ID and similar technologies to show ads and measure how they perform. Where required (for example in the UK and European Economic Area) we ask for your consent first through Google's consent form, and you can change your choice later where the app offers it. You can also reset or turn off personalised ads in your phone's settings (usually under Settings → Privacy → Ads). Google's information is at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Remove ads subscription
You can pay for an optional subscription that removes adverts. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play: we never see your card or bank details. The app asks Google Play whether your Google account has an active subscription, and remembers the answer on your phone. You can cancel at any time in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions). Deleting your Ace account does not cancel a subscription.
Who else handles your data
- Supabase hosts our database and sign-in system, which store accounts and scores.
- Google AdMob provides the adverts.
- Google Play processes subscription payments.
These providers act for us or under their own terms and have their own privacy policies. Quiz questions are written and reviewed by us; your account information and scores are never sent to an AI service.
Why we can use your information
Under UK data protection law we rely on: contract (running your account and showing your progress), consent (personalised advertising, where asked), and legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and working).
How long we keep it
Account information and scores are kept until you delete your account. Deleting it removes them from our database. Some technical logs and backups are kept by our providers for a short period before they are removed.
Delete your account and data
In the app: open the app, sign in, tap Account, then Delete my account. Your account, scores and progress are removed straight away.
By email: if you can no longer use the app, email privacy@educationalive.co.uk from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete your account. We will confirm once it is done.
Uninstalling the app removes what is stored on your phone, but does not delete your online account. Use one of the options above for that.
Your rights
You can ask us to see, correct, delete or export the information we hold about you, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email privacy@educationalive.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Security
Connections to our servers are encrypted, and each signed-in student can only access their own scores. No online service is perfectly secure, so please use a password you do not use elsewhere.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and the date at the top.
